2023 Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony

Sunday, December 3, 2023

The Denver community is invited to begin the holiday season as the Borough of Denver sponsors the 2023 Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, December 3, 2023, starting at 4:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building with the official lighting of the tree at 5:00 p.m

The 2023 Tree Lighting Ceremony will have something for everyone including hot dogs, empanadas, Holiday Treat Bags, crafts, story time in front of the tree, and of course, Santa Claus! The Borough will set up separate stations on Main Street, between the Municipal Building and the Municipal Garage, where participants can choose from hot dogs and sauerkraut, empanadas, hot cocoa, and pick up a Holiday Treat Bag, while supplies last.

Mount Zion Baptist Church will have a children’s craft to complete while all participants enjoy the seasonal sounds from Burns Weaver. The Adamstown Area Library will have a story time in the Municipal Building at 4:45 p.m. for the children.

Representatives from the Borough will officially kick off the holiday season with a few words followed by Santa Claus making a magical appearance to turn on the lights on the tree. Following the tree lighting ceremony, parents and children are invited to meet with Santa Claus in the Borough Council Meeting Room for a photo opportunity (please bring your own camera). All   children who meet with Santa Claus will receive a candy cane and the Denver Lion’s Club will be handing out a small toy to each child.

In the essence of the true meaning of the season, attendees are asked to donate a non-perishable can or boxed food item which will be donated to Peter’s Porch Food Bank and redistributed to people in our community this holiday season.  Volunteers from Peter’s Porch will have multiple collection bins located around the Municipal Building to collect the non-perishable food donations.

Thank you to the following businesses and organizations for your donations and support of our Denver community: Denver Meat Company, Weaver Markets, Castaneda’s, Courtyard Café, Good’s Potato Chips, Pepperidge Farms, Unruh Insurance Agency Inc., Member 1st Federal Credit Union, Redner’s Warehouse Markets, Mount Zion Baptist Church, Adamstown Area Library, Burns Weaver, Roseboro-Stradling Funeral Home, and the Denver Lion’s Club.

Come out and enjoy the festivities with your family, friends, and neighbors as we begin a season of peace and joy in the Borough.
