We have a wonderful natural resource that is in my mind is constantly being underutilized in the community, and that is the stream along the Memorial Park. My idea would be to develop that area, rehabilitate it into a fishing stream for families’ to enjoy alongside the park. Obviously we are a small community and I do not expect a large $$ project, but removing some deadwood, trimming trees and adding rock jetty’s to allow for deeper pools would go a long way. I am sure some sort of natural ecological surveys would need to be done, to assess the viability/ensure wild-life downstream would not be affected, for that I recommend reaching out to local Universities and Colleges in the area, students are always in need of a public service/classroom topic (even local high school-middle school biology/ecology classes are an asset). I hope this reaches the mind and ears of the community, because it is a simple project that could have a lasting effect on our small slice of Americana.
