Denver Arbor Day Celebration and Tree Planting Project

The Denver Shade Tree Commission will celebrate Arbor Day in the Borough of Denver with a ceremony and tree planting project on Saturday, April 29, 2017, beginning at 9:00 a.m., at Denver Skate Park located in the Denver Memorial Park and Playground, 801 Main Street, Denver.  The Arbor Day Ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the reading of the Arbor Day Proclamation and the presentation of the Tree City USA designation for Denver Borough.

After the Arbor Day Ceremony, the Shade Tree Commission will lead volunteers in a planting of two (2) Black Gum trees, one (1) planted on each side of the Skate Park to help frame the facility.  Volunteers also will plant Red Twig Dogwood bushes and Burning Brush bushes between the Skate Park and the walking trail.

Following the planting at the Denver Memorial Park, the Shade Tree Commission and volunteers will travel to the Denver Community Pool to plant five (5) Red oak and Chestnut Oak trees between the Pool driveway and the sidewalk on Monroe Street.  Volunteers who are interested in helping with the planting can join the Shade Tree Commission at either or both sites.  For additional information, please contact the Denver Municipal Building at 336-2831.
